Cookie Policy
How DevsHub uses cookies and similar technologies on our website and platform.
Last updated: July 2025
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, provide security features, and deliver information to the site owners. Cookies may be "persistent" (remaining on your device until they expire or are deleted) or "session" (temporary, deleted when you close your browser).
In addition to cookies, we may use similar technologies such as local storage, session storage, and server-side session identifiers (collectively, "Tracking Technologies").
2. How We Use Cookies
DevsHub uses a minimal set of cookies and Tracking Technologies. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, or cookies for behavioral profiling. Our use is limited to:
- Authentication & Security: To authenticate users, maintain secure sessions, and protect against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) and other security threats.
- Session Management: To remember your preferences and maintain your login state as you navigate the Service.
- Essential Functionality: To enable core platform features that would not function without state management (e.g., the web dashboard, API authentication).
3. Cookies We Use
3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the operation of the Service and cannot be disabled. They are set in response to actions you take, such as logging in or setting preferences.
| Cookie / Technology | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
session / session token |
Authenticates your user session after login. Contains a cryptographically signed session identifier. | Session (browser close) or 24 hours | First-party, HttpOnly, Secure |
csrf_token |
Prevents cross-site request forgery attacks on form submissions and API calls. | Session | First-party, Secure |
| Local Storage / Session Storage | Stores UI preferences (e.g., dashboard layout, theme settings) locally in your browser. | Persistent (until cleared) | Client-side only |
| Server-side session | Maintains your authenticated state on our servers. No cookie is stored on your device for this; a session ID is transmitted in request headers. | 24 hours of inactivity | Server-side |
3.2 Analytics (Optional)
We may use a self-hosted, privacy-respecting analytics tool (such as Plausible or a custom solution) to collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics. This analytics does not use cookies, does not track individual users across sites, and does not collect personally identifiable information. All data is anonymized and stored on our infrastructure.
3.3 Cookies We Do NOT Use
To be clear, DevsHub does not use:
- Advertising or marketing cookies.
- Third-party tracking cookies (e.g., Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel).
- Social media sharing cookies.
- Cross-site tracking cookies.
- Fingerprinting or device identification technologies.
4. Third-Party Services
Some pages on our website may embed content from third-party services (e.g., the Tailwind CSS CDN for styling, Google Fonts for typography). These services may set their own cookies. We have no control over third-party cookies. Please review the respective privacy policies of these services:
- Google Fonts: policies.google.com/privacy
We are working to eliminate or self-host all third-party dependencies to minimize external cookie exposure.
5. Managing Cookies
Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can:
- View and delete cookies stored on your device.
- Block all cookies or third-party cookies.
- Set your browser to notify you when a cookie is being set.
- Browse in "private" or "incognito" mode, which automatically deletes cookies when you close the window.
Important: Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent you from logging into the Service or using core features. The Service requires authentication cookies to function.

6. Do Not Track Signals
Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature. Because there is no industry consensus on how to interpret DNT signals, our Service does not currently respond to DNT signals. However, as noted above, we do not engage in cross-site tracking or behavioral advertising regardless of DNT settings.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will post the updated policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date. For material changes, we will notify you via email or a notice on our website.
